F&B Self-Ordering Prototype

The Problem

The Food & Beverage (F&B) sector frequently faces severe manpower shortages, particularly during peak hours. This leads to long queues, order inaccuracies, and frustrated customers. The challenge was to design a self-ordering system that significantly reduces staff workload while ensuring the ordering process remains intuitive and accessible for users of all technical skill levels.

The Solution

To tackle this, I designed "Meijiri", a comprehensive digital UI prototype for a self-ordering kiosk and companion mobile app. The design focuses entirely on removing friction from the customer journey.

By prioritizing highly visual menus, intuitive food customization (like adding/removing ingredients), and seamless cashless payment integrations, the system empowers customers to manage their own orders effortlessly.

Design Execution

  • > User Flow Mapping: Charted the end-to-end path from menu browsing to checkout to minimize clicks and prevent cart abandonment.
  • > UI Accessibility: Created high-fidelity assets prioritizing readability, large touch targets for physical kiosks, and clear visual hierarchy.
  • > Interactive Prototyping: Built a fully clickable Figma prototype to simulate real-world screen transitions and user interactions.
  • > Cashless Integration: Designed seamless digital payment flows to encourage faster table turnover.
